NetEase Games and Bad Guitar Studio have officially launched FragPunk, a stylish, rule-breaking 5v5 hero shooter, on PC worldwide. Now available on Steam and the Epic Games Store, FragPunk introduces a fast-paced tactical twist to the genre with its Shard Card system, offering players the ability to bend—or break—traditional combat rules in real time. The developers also confirmed that console versions for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 are in the works.
Season 1: Wild Dawn
The game kicks off its first season, Wild Dawn, which is set to last four months, split into two chapters (each two months long). Players can expect:
- 13 Unique Lancers at launch, each with distinctive playstyles and personalities.
- 150+ Shard Cards, enabling highly customizable strategies.
- 7 Shard Clash Maps, including the brand-new battleground, Dongtian—a floating mountain palace that combines breathtaking aesthetics with dynamic map changes.
- A promise of new Lancers, Shard Cards, and potential game modes introduced at the start of each chapter and new seasons to keep the experience fresh.

To celebrate the global launch, FragPunk is rolling out more than 130 free rewards for players who log in now, including:

Shard Cards: Break the Rules
FragPunk’s Shard Card system introduces a new layer of tactical gameplay. With over 150 cards available at launch—and 80 that never appeared in prior tests—players can tailor combat in unexpected ways. A few examples include:
- Dullahans: Allies’ heads become invulnerable flames.
- Infernal Hounds: Summon a fiery hound that attacks nearby enemies.
- Leader of the Dead: Sacrifice your own HP to spawn a bio-warrior for combat support.
Meet the New Lancer: Chum
Alongside 12 other Lancers, Season 1 introduces Chum, a stone-carved robot mesmerized by organic life. Chum deploys the stone fish “Chomper” as an explosive or smoke bomb, forcing enemies to scramble and adding unpredictable chaos to each match.
New Map: Dongtian
One of the main highlights at launch is Dongtian, a Shard Clash map set high above the clouds. Inspired by Eastern architecture and landscapes, this floating mountain palace features:
- Towering sculptures and panoramic natural vistas
- Special map mechanics that alter the terrain mid-battle
- Unique vantage points and flanking routes, ensuring every skirmish feels distinct
Shard Card Design Contest
FragPunk’s developers are looking to the community for fresh ideas with the “FragPunk Card War: Craft Your Signature Card!” contest. Running from March 7 to June 7, 2025, players can submit their Shard Card concepts:
- Five winning designs will earn $2,025 USD each
- Winning card ideas will be integrated into the game with the designer’s signature
- Winners are chosen via a combined evaluation by the development team and a community vote
