Fans of Hideo Kojima’s storytelling will soon have a new way to immerse themselves in the world of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Shinchosha Publishing Co., Ltd. has confirmed that an official novelization by Kenji Yano—writing under the pen name Hitori Nojima—will be released on June 25, 2025, just one day before the game’s official launch on PlayStation 5.
From Page to Gameplay

Kenji Yano is no stranger to adapting Kojima’s works. He penned novelizations for the original Death Stranding, as well as several titles in the Metal Gear Solid series. Though the final game script undoubtedly spans thousands of pages to accommodate side missions and open-world elements, Yano distilled the core narrative of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach into a 576-page novel.
Pricing, Format, and Possible English Version
Priced at 1,045 JPY (about $7.10 USD), the novel is currently available for pre-order in Japanese on Shinchosha’s website. Fans of Yano’s previous adaptations will recall that the two-volume Death Stranding novel received an English translation and audiobook release, raising hopes for a similar treatment for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
Kojima Productions Goes All-In
This novelization is just one piece of the robust promotional rollout for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Kojima Productions has also announced limited-edition Hamilton watches based on an in-game timepiece worn by a new character. Set to release on the same day as the game, the collectible watch adds yet another unique layer to the overall launch celebration.
Launch Date
Planned for release on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach continues Hideo Kojima’s tradition of blending high-concept sci-fi elements with star-studded storytelling.
