HoYoverse has officially unveiled details for Genshin Impact Version 5.5, titled Day of the Flame’s Return, launching on March 26. This update expands the world of Natlan by introducing a new tribe, a towering volcanic region, and a fresh cast of playable characters—alongside exciting gameplay additions and system optimizations.
A Journey to the Great Volcano of Tollan
Players will venture into Natlan’s southwestern reaches, where a volcano called Tollan holds clues to a dormant “sacred city.” Said to have been built by the Dragonborn, the city stirs amid the roiling magma beneath it. Adventurers can expect fiery landscapes, hidden ruins, and an evolving story centered on a mysterious “Flamelord’s Blessing.”
Meet the Collective of Plenty
On the path to Tollan, travelers encounter the Collective of Plenty, a tribe defined by its competitive spirit and volcanic soil–blessed harvests. During sudden volcanic activity, players can transform into the new Tatankasaurus form, smashing large Pulverite boulders and briefly dashing across water or liquid Phlogiston.
Two New Playable Characters
- Varesa (5-Star, Electro Catalyst)
- Specializes in Plunging Attacks and the “Fiery Passion” state, which boosts Electro damage and reduces her Elemental Burst cost.
- Her Elemental Skill can be tapped to quickly trigger Plunging Attacks, and she restores Phlogiston when food is consumed by the party.
- Iansan (4-Star, Electro Polearm)
- Provides ATK buffs and healing for the team, scaling with how much distance allies move.
- Her Burst increases the on-field character’s ATK even when she’s off-field, and triggering a “Nightsoul Burst” gives her the Warming Up effect—restoring HP to allies over time.
In Version 5.5’s first Event Wish phase, Varesa and Iansan will debut alongside a rerun for Xianyun, followed by reruns for Xilonen and Venti later.
Bloomflower Trials and New Mini-Games
- Bloomflower Trials: Team up with Mavuika, Ifa, and other Natlan allies to rescue a Saurian afflicted by a rare illness.
- Saurian Treasure Seeker: Assist baby Saurians in overcoming obstacles and collecting treasures. Completion rewards include the ability to invite Ororon for free.
Additional Content and Optimizations
- New Boss: The Lava Dragon Statue awaits in the volcano’s geothermal fissures.
- Artifact Upgrades: Using Sanctifying Elixirs now guarantees at least two upgrades to defined Minor Affixes for smoother Artifact progression.
