Introducing Temple, Warframe #60

Step aside, classic guitars—Warframe’s 60th addition, Temple, is here to melt faces (and enemies) with explosive riffs and pyrotechnic attacks:

  • Ignite Pyrotechnics: Summon blazing pillars of fire using Temple’s guitar, Lizzie.
  • Overdrive: Unleash red-hot heat waves that scorch foes and pump up your party’s adrenaline.
  • Ripper’s Wail: Let out a shredding solo to grant brief invulnerability and healing.
  • Exalted Solo: Switch Lizzie into a flamethrower with optional elemental damage for flaming variety.

Temple’s signature sidearm, the Riot-848, even lets you recall bullets back to your magazine—ensuring you never miss a beat in the heat of battle.

For every intricate detail, head over to the official patch notes and dive deeper into what Techrot Encore has to offer.

In an interview with VG247, Megan Everett, Community Director and Head of Live Ops at Digital Extremes, discusses the unexpectedly positive fan reception to the Warframe: 1999 update—specifically the introduction of protoframes (human-like precursors to traditional Warframes). The enthusiastic response to these new characters, along with the addition of romance and a ’90s setting, far exceeded the team’s expectations. Everett notes that the passion fans have shown—evidenced by an outpouring of fan art—encouraged the developers to embrace more experimental approaches and “get weird with it.”

Regarding the new Techrot Encore update, Everett confirms it adds four fresh protoframes but does not include romance options. While the team recognized the popularity of romance in Warframe: 1999, practical constraints made it difficult to replicate for this follow-up. Instead, the focus is on building deep, platonic relationships that help players care about these new protoframes as much as the original ones.

Everett stresses that introducing protoframes requires significant development resources and narrative planning, and they must fit naturally into the story. Though the team sees the fan excitement around protoframes as a reason to continue exploring them, not every upcoming update will feature a protoframe. In some cases, it may simply not make sense for the storyline or the existing Warframe universe.

Lastly, Everett explains how these new protoframes in Techrot Encore fit into the 1999 timeline and lore. She highlights how they each have their own histories that parallel the events of the original protoframe storyline. This approach maintains internal consistency, ensuring that any future protoframes or expansions will likewise be introduced only when they match both the narrative arc and gameplay context.
