Hideo Kojima announced that sound mixing is officially finished for the much-anticipated sequel, with the process wrapping up at Molinare in London. In true Kojima Productions fashion, the team commemorated the milestone with champagne in hand (imagine being part of that celebratory moment!).
In a tweet, Kojima thanked everyone involved in the nearly three-year journey, which included ADR (automated dialogue replacement) sessions—a lengthy but vital task to ensure top-quality voice acting and pristine audio. It’s almost mind-blowing that the process of recording and mixing could span years, but hey, that’s the hallmark of the cinematic, detail-obsessed approach we’ve come to expect from Kojima’s projects.
What’s even wilder is that all of this has been finalized barely three months before the game’s official launch on June 26. Game development truly cuts it close, but if there’s any team that can pull it off with style, it’s Kojima Productions. And honestly, it just adds to the hype, especially after Kojima teased that certain scenes featuring Troy Baker’s Higgs are so outrageous we might be tempted to hurl our controllers across the room.
If you thought the original Death Stranding was off-the-wall, brace yourself—because Kojima’s comments suggest this sequel is reaching new levels of absurdity (in the best possible way). With sound mixing now done, we’re inching ever closer to exploring another beautifully bizarre world filled with moody landscapes, star-studded performances, and mind-bending narrative twists.
Kojima Productions is also proud to announce that the original Death Stranding has connected over 20 million porters across all available platforms. What a milestone!
Time truly flies, but June 26 can’t come soon enough! I’m fully strapped in for the ride—champagne or no champagne—and I can’t wait to see just how far down this next strand-based rabbit hole we go. Let the final countdown begin!
